As well as being very welcome in our shop, we warmly recommend making a day of it in Monnickendam - if you have the opportunity. This picturesque village just above Amsterdam has a rich history with its beautiful Dutch architecture. The 2ehandssieraden.nl showroom is in the old centre. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a good glass of wine on one of the terraces in the nearby harbour. It is also possible to hire a boat from the harbour. For example, via Theetuin overleek or via Waterland. Feeling peckish after all this fun? Then we recommend a pleasant lunch at restaurant De Koperen Vis (The Copper Fish), a building that used to house the Jewish synagogue. Or go for a good piece of cake at Da Piera (with beautiful views and homemade iced tea). If you really have something to celebrate, we can recommend the star restaurant de Posthoorn. You can also combine this with a luxury overnight stay in the adjoining suite hotel. Give yourself or your loved ones a day full of attention!
Can't get enough of it? Just a little further north, you will find the well-known town of Volendam. Of course, here you will find the traditional old Dutch costume and various museums with information about the history of the Netherlands. But the fishing village has much more to offer! Think of traditional eel smokehouses with the freshest fish, the cosy harbour with old Dutch ships. Or rummage through the streets of the old districts of Doolhof and De Kom - a great source of inspiration for many artists, for good reason.
